Tour #29. Jewish Farmers of New Jersey
This tour focuses on the Jewish farming communities of southern New Jersey. They were founded by the Baron de Hirsch Fund in the 1880s. We will visit the Jersey Homesteads in Roosevelt and see the Bauhaus-inspired housing units, the clothing factory and the cemetery where artist Ben Shahn and his wife are buried. We then proceed south to Cape May County and visit the Woodbine Brotherhood Synagogue and Museum of Woodbine Heritage. It is housed in a restored 1891 three-story brick synagogue and is “frozen in time.” It’s great stuff. This is a six-hour tour.
Tour Fee: Group tour for congregation or school–$600 per group.
Fee does not include bus charter.
