Tour #5. 9/11 Memorial Walking Tour

The 9/11 Memorial is built on the FootPrint of the original Twin Towers. It consists of two waterfalls within two other waterfalls. It was designed by Michael Arad, son of the former United Nations ambassador to Israel. The waterfalls are called “Reflecting Absence.” The names of nearly 3,000 people who died in the attacks in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and on Flight 93 in Shanksville, PA are inscribed around the walls of the waterfalls. Sadly, there are many Jewish names on this list.
