LECTURE #1. Wandering Jews of New York City
Join noted architect, author, and tour guide, Oscar Israelowitz, on a delightful one-hour multi-media slide presentation of the many diverse neighborhoods throughout New York City. Visit the Lower East Side, Upper East Side, Jewish Harlem, Upper West Side in Manhattan; the South Bronx, Grand Concourse and Riverdale in the Bronx; Jamaica, Forest Hills and Laurelton in Queens; Downtown, Williamsburg, Borough Park, Crown Heights and Gravesend in Brooklyn; and Tompkinsville, Port Richmond and Tottenville in Staten Island. Musical interludes are provided by Cantors Yossele Rosenblatt, Zavel Kwarten and Richard Tucker. There is a special stop-over at Ellis Island, where over twelve million immigrants were processed. This program has been given in hundreds of synagogues, temples, public libraries, museums, universities, Jewish Community Centers and YMHAs, as well as Senior Centers, Nursing Homes, and Assisted Living Facilities.
